Richard Armitage 50th Birthday Charity Auction

So! it’s the big 5-0 for our lovely man “la Armitage” on 22nd August 2021.

As per the last few years Guylty will be hosting the charity auctions and this year is like no other because firstly the man himself is involved!

Richard reached out a few weeks ago and generously donated his Guy Of Gisborne leather jacket from the 1st season of the BBC tv series Robin Hood! yikes!

The auctions begin on Sunday 15th and I’ve donated a couple pieces of craftiness to the auction again.

First off is something I have previous made for 2 other fandom friends, HOWEVER all 3 sets are different.

It’s a vintage Colclough Fine bone china trio-consisting of a tea cup, saucer and side plate which feature a lovely yellow rose motif which is very beloved of our fandom for featuring in the mini series North and South which featured Richard Armitage alongside a wonderful cast. If you’ve not seen the series yet, I genuinely recommend it, it’s a beautiful piece of historical drama with a huge slice of social history.

The tea set features some of Thornton’s most important lines from the final scene at the train station:

“Where are you going?” on the saucer”

“I found it in the hedgerow” on the side plate

“You’re coming home with me?” on the cup

The lines are written on using a Porcelain Painter pen by Marabu. Once written on the china it is then set permanently by heating in an oven, which means it won’t come off during washing. I don’t recommend putting this item in a dishwasher purely because the gold rim will fade further.

The item is vintage thus does have some wear but no chips, cracks or crazing. I will be enclosing a box of rose tea for the winner (as long as winners country of origin customs allows it)

The second item I made is a collaboration with my lovely chap who runs a laser cutting business. He’s recently been making replica makers plates which would have featured on engines and machinery. It got me thinking about whether there would be one in Malborough Mills-the cotton mill in which North and South Richard character runs his cotton weaving business from.

So i explained what I would want on the sign and overnight my chap had designed and cut out for me! He did the base black spray of paint and I hand painted the letters and finally it was given a spray of lacquer for protection. It is however, not suitable for outdoor use(this is engraved on the back too)

This is a representation of one of the real types of plate which did adorn many of the machines in mills of that era. Featuring the iconic yellow rose!

Measures 17.5cm x 11cm by 7mm thick.

It’s a little anachronistic, but I think it’s cute and a bit different and hopefully someone in the fandom fancies having this moderately subtle piece of fan art!

23/08/21 Update, as usual the fans have amazed me with their generosity , the china trio went for 320 euros and the plaque went for 210 euros! It’s very gratifying and humbling to be able to help Guylty raise this money for such a good charity (LOROS via his own just giving page. Thank you all again!)
